I ART therefore I AM.
I came across this t-shirt from the Leamington Art Centre. I was there to meet with the director Chad Riley to discuss a show for 2018. The space is lovely and I am looking forward to the challenges that will come with this adventure.
"I am _____?" this question faces most people at different times in their lives. Since I have faced the challenges of being a Quinquagenarian (someone in their fifties), the question has been circling in my mind often. My soul feels like I am still very young, my body knows otherwise. As an empty nester, the question is continual, for the last three years I have painted and painted. When I found I could not, I would say "just paint". The need for me to do so was strong, yet I did not understand why. I now have a very large collection of work. I have reached a point, since I have been asking a lot as I work, What is the point?, that I need to do something with my Art. Here I face the challenges, but I have decided to take some giant leaps! Life may change when you know you are over half way through it, but the wisdom that comes is that the question is not "I am_____? but I ______ therefore I am! In my life the _____ is ART!
